Lusaka businessman arrested for swindling two foreigners, Zambian
A LUSAKA businessman, Ackson Tembo has been arrested for allegedly swindling two foreign investors and a Zambian businessman 16 container truckloads of mukula worth over $400, 000.
According to details obtained by Millennium Radio, Mr. Tembo through his company ACK Logistics swindled a Mozambican, Mr. Bertos Bacara Pascoal 10 container loads of mukula.
In the second case, Mr. Tembo swindled a Congolese Osembe Pena six containers loads of mukula and in the last case, he is allegedly to have swindled a Zambian company called Kariki Investments, one bus and two trucks and trailers.
Mr Tembo is alleged to have obtained the mukula logs in 2017 for export to China as he is believed to have had an export permit but disappeared thereafter and the two have not been paid their money.
The suspect is one of the major businessmen that were dealing in the export of mukula in the Patriotic Front administration.
And speaking in separate interview with Millennium Radio, Mr Pascoal said the arrest of Mr Tembo is a relief as it was previously difficult to get hold of him due to his alleged connection with the previous administration.
And Mr Pena said he is hopeful that justice will prevail after failed attempts in the previous administration.
And Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga has confirmed the arrest of Mr Tembo.
Mr Hamoonga said Mr Tembo aged 41, of Plot Number 36831 SOS Forest in Lusaka, has been arrested on charges of alleged fraudulent activities.
He said Mr. Tembo is facing two counts of obtaining money by false pretences and obtaining pecuniary advantage.
He said Mr Tembo is in custody awaiting his court appearance.
