Body builders vie for Mr, Ms Bu­l­awayo com­pe­ti­tion

AT least 18 lo­cal body builders are ex­pected to com­pete in the 2016 edi­tion of Mr and Ms Bu­l­awayo body build­ing con­test which will be held on Au­gust 20 at a lo­cal movie cinema.

The com­pe­ti­tion will see body builders con­test­ing in four cat­e­gories namely ju­niors un­der 21, se­niors, ladies fit­ness fig­ure and men’s fit­ness physic.

Love­more Mun­ya­mana, the win­ner of last year’s con­test as well as Shantel Batch Green­land, the de­fend­ing cham­pion in the women’s cat­e­gory, are ex­pected to de­fend their ti­tles.

Bu­l­awayo Metropoli­tan Body Build­ing and Fit­ness As­so­ci­a­tion Sec­re­tary (BMBFA), Marko Mwale said that peo­ple should ex­pect one of the tough­est com­pe­ti­tions in the city.

“Body build­ing fans should ex­pect fire­works in this year’s edi­tion of the Mr and Ms Bu­l­awayo. All ath­letes are raring to go. I have been vis­it­ing some of the ath­letes at their re­spec­tive gyms and the mood is high.

“I spoke to Shantel and Love­more and they both as­sured me that they are ready for the com­pe­ti­tion. I am just so glad all com­peti­tors have been prepar­ing so hard for the con­test,” said Mwale.

The win­ners of the lo­cal event will qual­ify to com­pete for Mr and Ms Iron Man Zim­babwe which is set for Harare on the 27 Au­gust.

The Mr and Ms Bu­l­awayo, spon­sored by Clar­ion In­sur­ance, Sports Zone, Body works Gym.

En­try into the venue is pegged at $3.
