Make a lasting impression

-

Matthew 5 vs 16

“LET your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Have you ever wondered what kind of an impression you make on people? What do people see in you and how do they receive you? Do you come across as a peaceful gentle loving soul or do they see misfortune, chaos, lost opportunity and anger?

Did you know that whatever you hold dear is what exudes from you? From the very first encounter people get a clue and form an opinion on what matters to you. Do people want to meet you again or do they walk away confused?

A few people have had a telling and lasting impression on me, one of them is a person of astounding faith that I met not so long ago. What was interesting is that even without saying a word I could sense and feel the serenity and peace that the individual has. They had a glow around them that could only come from knowing and drawing from God as the fountain of life.

As we conversed I could tell what his priorities are, every second sentence was an expression of gratitude to the Lord for His mercy and grace. When I complimented him on how well he looked through his radiating presence, he said it was because of God’s anointing and grace.

It then got me wondering what qualities the rest of us exude. Do we attribute our being and success to God or are we like Hezekiah where we want to show what we have been given but don’t want to share and give credit to the source. Are our conversations centred on material things alone? Where does the glory of the Lord and all He does feature in our being?

So the question is: what impression do you give of yourself? What takes centre stage in your life? You can change your personality one day at a time by slowly realigning your reality to His glory. Why not have meaningful conversations instead of the shallow chatter that shows vanity and materialism?

The Bible says “what does it benefit a man to gain the world and lose his soul?” Are you gaining the world at the expense of your soul, is that what the world sees of you? Find the fountain of life and begin to exude it in both spirit and person. The glory of the Lord can be seen in all its fullness when He takes centre stage in your life. It can clearly be seen not only through the peace that surrounds you but through your conversations as well.

The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. Start your own journey of reformation, where you slowly begin to change how you come across to people. Centre your life on the things that matter and you will begin to change your outlook on life.

The Lord is looking for ambassadors to His cause, individuals who will stand out and share His goodness to others and through that process begin to change lives. Many are called but only a few accept the call. Accept it today and begin to impress others with the goodness of the Lord and the things of His kingdom.

When people walk away from you they should feel like they were in the presence of greatness. That’s the lasting impression they should have of you. Start your journey today.

Be blessed
