Miss Tourism Zim patron mesmerised by Byo models

Intwasa Arts Festival koBulawayo TONIGHT at the Large City Hall Car Park, Clement Magwaza and Jah Prayzah protégé Andy Muridzo will square off at the Ingwebu stage. At the Bulawayo Theatre there’ll be two plays – Lamentatio­ns and The System in the evening. Tomorrow, the Bayethe Bulawayo music concert will shut down the six-day festival with over 20 artistes performing.

Jabula Inn (Esigodini) Zoey and the Red Angels will entertain revellers tomorrow alongside Senior Stars Band and DJ Dirango.

Stop Over Bev and the Sexy Angels will hold their make-up show tomorrow. Bulawayo Polytechni­c (School of Hospitalit­y

Hall) Wheel spinners Judgement Yard will headline the Summer dancehall party. They will be aptly supported by DJs Nospa, Dee Cee and Wallace.

BAC Leisure Tonight DJ Mark Vusani hosts the “Throwback” alongside DJs Nospa, Tick Tock and Vulcan. Tomorrow it’s a Jameson party in memory of kwaito star Mandoza with DJs Vano, Slam, Frostie and guest DJ Lady CP. On Sunday the nightspot hosts the recording of the Hotmix Sessions TV show with DJs Tick Tock, Kead Wikead, Slimza and Skaiva.

Sunset Sports Cafe Northend Shopping Mall Tomorrow it’s the “Summer Beach Party Part II” where beach games will be played. A strictly summer beach wear dress code is required. Entertainm­ent will MISS Tourism Zimbabwe (MTZ) patron – Barbara Mzembi has declared that a model from Bulawayo will make top three in the competitio­n.

Over the past two weeks, the Miss Tourism Trust has been conducting auditions around the country. They stopped by in Bulawayo on Wednesday to conduct auditions at the Rainbow Hotel ahead of the finale slated for November 25 in Harare. Though the turnout was low as only 15 models attended, Mzembi was impressed by the quality.

“I’m impressed with the quality of girls in Bulawayo. I really think that if one of the girls isn’t the winner, she’ll make top three at the finale,” she said after the auditions.

“I won’t say names, but when we were with the scouting team, we saw one who really impressed us.”

Among those who were auditioned were Ashley Morgan, Sibusisiwe Falala, Dorothy Mathe, Merylin Ngwenya, Nokulunga Nyathi, Tendayi Sibanda, Zandile Ncube, Memory Chapinduka, Mary Anne Ncube, Confidence Musiiwa, Rebecca Ndebele and Nomaqhu Ncube.

The scouting team comprised Mzembi, former Miss Tourism Zimbabwe Lorraine Maphala-Phiri and Benjamin Chimutengo.

Mzembi also heaped praises on Maphala-Phiri who is now a businesswo­man, saying she was a great example of a beauty queen.

“Lorraine was Miss Tourism Zimbabwe in 2005 and she’s an example of what pageants can do for a girl. She be provided by P.O.Y. Southern Djembe Natives, DJs Prince, Dee Cee, Krayze and Koruptking.

Club 263 DJ Kead Wikead will tonight host the weekly “Party on George”. Tomorrow it’s the Caribbean Party & Fashion show with Obama the host supported by DJs Kead Wikead, Nospa, St Willz, FFsF Molfy and CP. Raunchy dancers Bev and Zoey will on Sunday face off at a show dubbed “Double Trouble”.

Katso Sports Bar Tonight it’s “Woza Friday” with DJ Mgoe. Tomorrow DJ Mgoe returns as she hosts the “Saturday Mix”. She will be joined by guest DJ Smallz. On Sunday it’s the “Old School music” night with DJ Lamza.

Cresta Churchill Tonight it’s “Jazz Night” with the Friends Band serenading patrons. On Sunday Prosper Tshuma and the Smart Band will take over.

Horizon Night Club A “Monthend Madness Party” will be held tonight with DJs Noma Dat Girl, Calvin, Teflon, El Don and DBongz Deeper. The annual shorts and Bikini’s party is on tomorrow hosted by DJs Joe tha OG, Miles, Lacusto, Que Bass and Lasky.

Private Lounge The club’s alluring dancers will continue entertaini­ng revellers with DJs Sweeto, Tawaz and Delroy on the decks. Nketa 8 Sports Bar Dakamela Super Sounds and Zim Splash will entertain revellers tonight. Beauty Queens take over has started her own business and has been nominated for a business award. This shows that pageants aren’t about beauty alone, but can enhance the girl child,” said Mzembi.

She said the girls who will be selected to represent Bulawayo at the finale will be contacted next month, about two weeks before boot camp.

“We’ve auditioned over 60 girls who’ll be trimmed down to 18,” she said.

“During boot camp, we’ll trim the girls to 15 for the finale on November 25.”

She said those who may have missed regional auditions should not despair as they have a national audition that will be held in Harare on a date to be advised.

Today, the Miss Tourism Zimbabwe scouting team will be in Gweru for auditions at the ZTA offices with aspiring models from Zvishavane and the City of Progress being invited to attend. - @bonganinku­nzi tomorrow with DJs Tshola, Nkandura and Billard and Henrix on rotation. On Sunday, it’s the “In door Jazz and local Chill Zone” for the mature with DJ Henrix.

Nketa Neighbourh­ood Tavern Tonight it’s the Friday Groove with DJ Funmaster. Rhumba singer Ndux Junior and Batshele Brothers will tomorrow hold a live show with DJ Funmaster on the decks. On Sunday it’s the Jazz Music Party with DJ Funmaster.

New Emagumeni Sports Bar Tonight the ever bubbly MaTing ting hosts “Ladies Night”. DJ DNcie Mavala will entertain revellers tomorrow and Sunday for the “Stokvel Night”.

T-Junction Sports Bar (New Lobengula) The “Funky Friday” party sessions are on tonight with resident DJs Mavesto, Houzen and Buthoz on rotation. The resident DJs will be back tomorrow for the “Kasi Vibez” and “Kasi Flavour Nights”. On Sunday it’s the “Old School Party” session with resident DJs.

The Lounge DJs Jaiza and Keezy will host the “Weekend Party starter” tonight with a mix of old and new songs. DJs Jaiza and Cris Rocx will take over tomorrow with the “Weekend Grooves”. Iyasa will combine with DJs Kananjo and Jaiza to provide the best in African music and dance on Sunday night.

Ace Lounge DJ Khumz will entertain revellers alongside New Age dance group tonight. Khumz returns tomorrow but with Hlokoloza dance group. Bulawayo Queens and DJ Simple Studio will entertain revellers on Sunday.
