Second National Competitive Report to be officially launched

- Business Reporter

THE Second National Competitiveness Report will be officially launched in Harare this week, coinciding with the national economic symposium.

The National Economic Consultative Forum would host the one and half-day indaba starting on Wednesday.

“The National Economic Consultative Forum (NECF) will from 12 to 13 October 2016, host the National Economic Symposium at which the second National Competitiveness Report will be launched,” said NECF in a statement.

The first competitiveness launched in October last year.

NECF said it embarked on the second report as part of its continued contribution to economic policy making and dialogue involving the public, private and civic society sectors.

The symposium would be hosted under the theme “Financing national competitiveness and economic prosperity through dialoguing”.

The event will bring together high level delegations from the Government, private sector, academia, international organisations, embassies and civic society to deliberate on the economy. About 500 delegates are expected to attend. The National Competitiveness Report is a reform tracking tool that provides a dashboard on the economy critical to Government’s reform agenda.

It provides an in-depth assessment of the country’s economy, which is critical to identifying Zimbabwe’s competitive advantages. Exploitation of these advantages is expected to improve the country’s economy. Contributions from the deliberations are expected to feed into the 2017 national budget. report was
