TKO quarter-finals draw set for today

-

THE Premier Soccer League announced that the Telkom Knockout quarterfinal draw will be conducted today, immediately after the last round of 16 encounter between Mamelodi Sundowns and Polokwane City.

The quarter-finals draw will consist of Cape Town City, Highlands Park, Free State Stars, Kaizer Chiefs, SuperSport United, Orlando Pirates, Baroka FC as well as the winner between Sundowns and Polokwane.

Last season's finalists Chiefs needed penalty shootouts to progress after being held goalless by Maritzburg United.

Coach Igesund had a positive start at newcomers Highlands Park as the Tembisa-based side defeated Chippa United 2-0. Ironically, the Telkom Knockout was the last trophy Igesund won during his debut season at SuperSport.

Pirates, who have been struggling to set their season alight, will be pleased to join the other big guns in the quarterfinals following their 2-1 victory against Golden Arrows. The Draw Procedure:

Three bowls will be used for the draw

The first bowl will contain the seeded four clubs – (clubs that achieved highest four (4) positions in the 2015/16 season will be seeded)

The second bowl will contain the names of the other four clubs.

The third bowl will be empty – to be used to determine home and away (How it will work) 1. A ball will be drawn from the seeded bowl and placed in the empty bowl without opening it

2. Another ball will be drawn from the unseeded bowl and placed in the empty bowl without opening it

3. Then a “stir” for the centre bowl and draw the first ball for home, the second ball for away. — © supersport.com.
