THE UNIQUE STORY OF MASIYEPHAMBILI SCHOOLS

- Robert Sibanda

MANY have wished, tried, started projects but success has eluded them.

The story of Masiyephambili schools is a unique one to tell.

Sometime in the mid-80s a group of young indigenous professionals mooted the idea of starting a private school.

The idea was discussed at both closed and public meetings.

Some thought it was a crazy idea while others felt it was a challenge but certainly possible.

Numerous consultations took place in the building of the school.

A board of trustees was formed whose members put in seed money and started fund raising.

Bulawayo industries and community obliged and Masiyephambili Junior School was started.

The school was registered and officially opened on May 31, 1991.

Great strides have been achieved over the past 25 years.

The school started with a single stream to a treble stream and from a staff complement of nine to well over 30.

The school now boasts of excellent facilities, classrooms with promethean interactive boards, IT room, library, home economics, art room, swimming pool, multi-purpose fields for cricket, rugby, athletics, soccer, rounders and hockey and of course the great Ithemba Founders Hall which was built and officially opened on the 26th of September 2014.

On the academic front Masiye is certainly a school of choice, one of the finest in Zimbabwe with an academic record many would envy. Parents have every reason to be proud of Masiye.

We congratulate the board of trustees, former parents, former students, current parents and pupils, the community as well as the former and present staff for achieving 25 years in providing excellent education that has produced many professionals now found all over the world.

May we meet and celebrate our achievements tomorrow. Proceedings start at 9:00AM with a Carnival March from Bulawayo Centre to the school. Dinner is at 6:30PM for 7:00PM.

Come One, Come All, See You There!!!
