Archers depart for Kwekwe darts tourney

VALUE Gas-sponsored Archers Darts Club left Bulawayo yesterday for the champion of champions darts tournament in Kwekwe today with smiles on their faces after being promised financial rewards for both individual and team achievemen­ts.

The tournament is run by the National Darts Associatio­n of Zimbabwe.

Speaking at the send-off ceremony held at Archers Sports Club yesterday afternoon, the team’s patron, Omega Sibanda. said any player who will close a 170 today with receive $500 while the team stands to get more than $1 000 if they lift the cup.

“We are saying go there and do us proud. I want you to listen carefully gentlemen, if anyone from you here makes a 170 close tomorrow, that player is set to get $500 cash and as for the team we are planning something big for you, well above $1 000 if you bring us the cup,” said Sibanda who is also the Zifa vice president. Speaking at the same occasion, Value Gas managing director Maurice Masike pledged his company’s continued support to the team and also promised some incentives if they bring back the trophy. “I want to wish the team nothing but a good performanc­e in Kwekwe. Just know that you are winners in your own right. If you win the trophy as Value Gas we will do something for you upon your return,” said Masike. Bulawayo will be represente­d by two teams, Archers and Railstars who came second in the Bulawayo Metropolit­an Province Darts Associatio­n league last season.
