Spiritual nourishment

-

Matthew 4 vs 4

JESUS answered, “It is written: Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”

The food you eat pretty much determines the state of your well being. Certain foods are very nourishing and are recommended in your diet. Other types of food can cause untold harm if consumed in quantities beyond what the body is able to process.

The same applies with the word of God, you have to consume it in a manner that allows you to digest and process it, rather than cause discomfort and constipation.

As you grow older, you become conscious of the food types that agree with you and have a healing and recuperative benefit on your body. The word has a similar benefit, as you consume it, it slowly begins to edify you, which leads to your personal growth.

Have you ever noticed how certain verses in the bible jump out at you, how they calm you down, give you peace and direction, and show you the power of the Lord in action?

Often we miss the opportunity to find growth, relief and wisdom because we simply can’t sit down and read. The bible is the fountain of wisdom and when you drink from it, you become a better person.

The more time we spend in contemplative and receptive study, the more we absorb the word and derive nourishment from it.

Take time to read a little more and you will grow from His written word.

Be blessed.
