Trusting God when you don’t understand

-

Ecclesiastes 11 vs 5

“As you do not know what is the way of the wind, Or how the bones grow in the womb of her who is with child, So you do not know the works of God who makes everything.”

We all go through times when we are confused by the circumstances around us, it could be events, relationships, misfortune or the general madness around us.

We spend huge swaths of time trying to figure God out and trying to understand how He works. We seek to rationalise His ways and put them into context. We try so hard to bring Him down from His lofty heights, make Him human and attribute human reasoning and rationale to His methods.

The unspoken reality however is that God is not a man, so His ways are not meant to be understood or deciphered to a point where we, His creation, become comfortable with His decision making.

A lot of things will happen, many of which we will totally disagree with, some will cause us to respond in anger and others will amaze us due to the extent of the detail. Through it all we must never lose track of the fact that He is the potter and the author, and our right to question Him is limited to His will and desire.

So many things will make you happy and some will make you sad, but as you go through them, be governed by the knowledge that the author knows best. Don’t lose heart trying to make sense of things that are beyond your realm of capacity to fathom and understand.

Pray that He speaks to you in a manner that you will understand and more importantly, leave the issues that are beyond you to Him. Life won’t always make sense to you but He knows best.

Be blessed.
