I WAS emotionally devastated when I learnt about Charles Manyuchi’s defeat in Singapore. I had high hopes for Manyuchi but unfortunately he lost the match. However, I will continue to rally behind him in his endevours. You may lose some and draw some. Hope is the last thing to lose. — Lawrence “The Penpusher” Moyo. Hwange.

I AM disappointed that these two Chatham Housenurtured, founded and funded puppets, Mr Morgan Tsvangirai of MDC-T and Dr Joice Mujuru of no fixed political party, are no longer on talking terms before the 2018 harmonised elections. It is an open secret that there is no serious opposition party in Zimbabwe. The ones we have are there to oppose for the sake of opposing. — Cde Bla Max, Boomerang.

THE weatherman has warned of an early biting winter, promising to drop the mercury to harsh levels as the cold season progresses. To be forewarned is to be forearmed. Do the right thing and get prepared for the cold weather. The picture of shivering schoolchildren rushes into the mind. Get them jerseys and gloves in time. As we get prepared, remember the orphan and that lonely widow in your area. Often times the good Samaritans forget the old widower in his tattered old coat, looking like a scarecrow. Please remember him; his acknowledgement is a great prayer for your success. — Thomas Murisa, Harare.

THE Tanzanian “Great Trek” by some of our promising and finest footballers is a step backward, not forward, even if there are financial rewards. Wisdom Mutasa should have stayed at least for another season at Harare giants Dynamos. The standard of our league is far better than the Tanzanian Football League. — Felix Zonke, Harare.

THE quest to own a house resulted in many people putting up substandard structures, for which they are paying a high price today. The generous rains which pounded Zimbabwe this season came with attendant problems; floods and crumbled houses. Short cuts and bribes were taken to speed up completion of houses that otherwise would have taken more weeks to finish building. Sometimes the cheapest things are the most expensive. Do not rush for cheap structures; they may prove expensive in the end. — Tafadzwa Makone, Ruwa.
