Change yourself first

-

Matthew 7 vs 3

“AND why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?”

One of the most difficult things to understand and learn to live with are the different characters that are in our lives. We all have those people who seem to always rub us up the wrong way and very often you find yourself asking God why He put that person in your life.

What we often overlook though, is the fact that sometimes these people act that way because of the effect we have on them. We tend to become so selffocused that we forget that people are reacting to us, our words and actions bring out a certain response from others.

It’s so much easier to see fault in the way other people react when in essence we also play a part in stimulating that behaviour. Selfishness is an individual defect that the best of us have, it can consume us to a point where it becomes destructive.

We are not meant to only be net consumers of God’s blessings but we are meant to bless others as well. Therefore it’s important to remember as you go about your life that change not only comes from others, it starts with you.

Work towards becoming more selfless, tolerant, loving, and patient. Be a blessing to a few more people and as you do, you will see the gratification that comes from opening your heart, doing good and honouring your call to be a more understanding person.

God wants you to be more tolerant of others, when you do that you will see His love abound and change the lives of people you had written off a long time ago. He can you know.

Be blessed.
