MSU take on Ivan Hoe

- Lovemore Zigara Sports Correspondent

TABLE-TOPPERS MSU will be hoping to maintain their lead in the Zifa Central Soccer League (CSL) when they take on Ivan Hoe at MSU grounds this afternoon.

The students lead the pack with 10 points after registering three victories and a draw in the four games that they have played.

Themba Chingwena, the MSU gaffer has stuck his neck out and said they are gunning for the championship. He expects to maximise on home advantage today. “It is going to be a tough match considering that Ivan Hoe have been playing well lately but we are prepared for them. We expect to pick maximum points considering that we are playing at home,” he said.

The varsity side will be buoyed by the support from university students who always attend the team’s matches.

Ivan Hoe coach Julius Chakupewa was equally confident that his side can upset MSU and hand them their first defeat of the season.

“We are aware MSU has been doing well and are on top of the log but we are ready for the challenge,” said Chakupewa.

The Kwekwe-based side collected their first set of points last week when they dispatched the young platinum miners 2–0 at Amaveni Stadium.

Elsewhere, John Nyikadzino’s Nichrut make the long trip to Beitbridge where they take on former Premiership side Border Strikers at Dulivhadzimu Stadium.

Nyikadzino said he would want to build the momentum and collect maximum points after a morale boosting 1–0 against Makusha in a Shurugwi derby.
