New hospital for Bulawayo

- Chronicle Reporters

Bulawayo will soon get a state- of- the- art private hospital after the city council allocated land for the building of the hospital to Premier Service Medical Investments (PSMI), a leading medical investments group.

In an interview during a clean up campaign held in the city centre at the weekend, PSMI group Finance Director Mr Victor Chaipa said they were in the process of mobilising funding for the project.

“We managed to get land in Selborne Park suburb from the City Council. We intend to build a state-oftheart hospital to serve Bulawayo and surrounding areas,” he said.

Mr Chaipa said his organisation has realised that Hillside hospital has become small and as such is being overwhelmed by demand for services.

About 200 workers from PSMI, including doctors and administration staff participated in the clean up campaign.

After the clean up the team donated more than 40 brooms they were using to the city council.

The team said plans were underway to donate branded bins to be placed at strategic points within the Central Business District.

Similar clean-up campaigns have been held in other citities and towns through out the country.

The group’s corporate accountant Mr Kudakwashe Mutukumira said the gesture was one of the many corporate social responsibility programmes being undertaken by his organisation.

“This is our way of giving back to the community. Victoria Falls is one of the communities that have given us so much support and so is Bulawayo, Harare, Gweru, Masvingo, Chiredzi and others cities and towns,” he said.—@ncubeleon @andile_tshuma
