- Allen Khumalo Sports Reporter

ZIFA Bulawayo Province Division Two League produced a flurry of goals at the weekend with goalkeepers picking the ball out of the net 22 times.

The goal fest started at Pumula East Garage on Saturday with Toronto thumping Mpopoma Pirates 4-0. Goals by Brian Kamusoko, Pindai Ngwenya, Mgcinimuzi Moyo and Keith Chikami ensured Toronto moved from fifth to joint leaders with seven points off three games.

Toronto jointly top the league table with Ajax Hotspurs, Arenel Movers and How Mine.

In a match pitting newly promoted sides Zenzele Tigers and Saints Academy at Sotshangane ground, Gerald Nyoni’s solitary goal earned maximum points for Tigers.

Tigers’ coach Gerion Nyathi believes his side is on the right track in its pursuit of the championship despite sitting on fifth place with six points.

“The win was a confidence booster for the guys and the fact that we haven’t lost any match shows that we are on the right track. So far I don’t think we have found any difficulties since our promotion, but we are just going to take it one game at a time. However, we are not reading much into that as these are the first matches and we still have a long way to go,” said Nyathi.

In other matches, Arenel Movers thumped White Birds 3-0 courtesy of Tinashe Chirenje’s brace and a goal from Goodwill Ncube. Chicken Inn gave up their lead to draw 1-1 with Sabona Mzilikazi.
