PSL moves to clear fixture congestion

- Ricky Zililo

CASTLE Lager Premier Soccer League clubs should brace for more mid-week games as the league moves to clear fixture congestion to meet the Caf clubs’ competitions deadline of November 30.

With seven weeks into the 2017 season, the league finds itself having to deal with a fixture backlog caused by Caps United’s participation in the Caf Champions League and unavailability of venues.

Caps United already have three postponed games after Week Seven. The Green Machine’s Match Day Three game away to ZPC Kariba was put on hold to allow Caps to participate in the Independence Cup semi-finals and their Harare derby against Dynamos was postponed due to the unavailability of the National Sports Stadium on Sunday. The facility played host to Pastor Chris of Christ Embassy’s church service.

The PSL has also postponed the Caps and Bantu Rovers match that had been set for today as the champions are leaving tomorrow for Friday’s Caf Champions League group match encounter against Zamalek in Alexandria, Egypt.

Dynamos have two outstanding fixtures against Black Rhinos and the champions and the PSL yesterday released rescheduled Match Day three fixtures, which will see Highlanders playing Harare City at the National Sports Stadium on Wednesday next week while Chicken Inn and FC Platinum will square off at Luveve Stadium.

The outstanding Dynamos and Black Rhinos match will be played on Thursday next week at the National Sports Stadium while Caps United will travel to Kariba for a date with ZPC Kariba on the same day.
