Ministers must use right engagement channels

-

EDITOR — I read in one of your editorials that Minister Patrick Zhuwao needs handholding. That is true. There should be a code of conduct of what Zanu-PF senior members can say about their fellow party counterparts in public spaces. Command Agriculture has been largely successful and it is disappointing to hear that there are others who have been chiding the idea.

Their utterances are in direct contempt of the First Lady, who came up with the idea and Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who has been leading its implementation.

Why don’t these ministers engage each other on an individual level or in forums they all appear at like Cabinet and the party Politburo?

I am sure the Vice President can grant Minister Patrick Zhuwao audience especially if it is a matter of national policy.

It is a sign of immaturity when senior party members use wrong platforms to send a message that there are misunderstandings in Zanu-PF.

We do not need such ideas especially when the President is meeting the youths, preaching peace and progress.

It would only be natural that the “mature” party members would lead by example and show them how to support party as well as Government policies.

Minister Zhuwao is the Minister of Youth Development, Indigenisation and Empowerment, meaning that he is a role model to a lot of young people in this country.

Sadly, he seems not to understand his responsibility and is showing the propensity to lead people astray. May someone advise him accordingly please? Jairos M.
