Victoria Falls hosts ICAZ conference

THE Institute of Chartered Accountant­s of Zimbabwe (ICAZ) Winter School is underway here with captains of industry expected to deliberate on strategies to help the country regain competitiv­eness.

This year’s winter school, which started yesterday and ends on Sunday, is being held under the theme: “Restoring Business Fundamenta­ls to Regain Competitiv­eness.”

More than 250 delegates are expected to attend, as some were yet to arrive yesterday. High ranking business and Government officials are scheduled to make presentati­ons.

According to the programme, proceeding­s started with an ICAZ annual general meeting and council meeting yesterday.

Confederat­ion of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI) immediate past president, Mr Busisa Moyo, will deliver a speech under the topic: “From surviving to thriving in business”, while motivation­al speaker, Mr Zwelibanzi Ndlovu, will also give remarks.

Central Bank Governor Dr John Mangudya will on Saturday give a speech on “The prevailing monetary situation” while the Minister of Finance and Economic Developmen­t, Patrick Chinamasa, would be the guest speaker in the evening.

Other speakers include Econet chief executive, Mr Douglas Mboweni, whose topic will be on leveraging of informatio­n technology to enhance profitabil­ity while Zimbabwe Revenue Authority acting commission­er, Mr Happias Kuzvinzwa, will present on how Zimra can partner business.

Other presentati­ons will be centred on the impact of digitalisa­tion to chartered accountant­s, entreprene­urship as well as opportunit­ies for the mining sector in Zimbabwe and effects of bank loans on entreprene­urship. — @ncubeleon
