Victoria Falls hosts ICAZ conference

THE Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe (ICAZ) Winter School is underway here with captains of industry expected to deliberate on strategies to help the country regain competitiveness.

This year’s winter school, which started yesterday and ends on Sunday, is being held under the theme: “Restoring Business Fundamentals to Regain Competitiveness.”

More than 250 delegates are expected to attend, as some were yet to arrive yesterday. High ranking business and Government officials are scheduled to make presentations.

According to the programme, proceedings started with an ICAZ annual general meeting and council meeting yesterday.

Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI) immediate past president, Mr Busisa Moyo, will deliver a speech under the topic: “From surviving to thriving in business”, while motivational speaker, Mr Zwelibanzi Ndlovu, will also give remarks.

Central Bank Governor Dr John Mangudya will on Saturday give a speech on “The prevailing monetary situation” while the Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Patrick Chinamasa, would be the guest speaker in the evening.

Other speakers include Econet chief executive, Mr Douglas Mboweni, whose topic will be on leveraging of information technology to enhance profitability while Zimbabwe Revenue Authority acting commissioner, Mr Happias Kuzvinzwa, will present on how Zimra can partner business.

Other presentations will be centred on the impact of digitalisation to chartered accountants, entrepreneurship as well as opportunities for the mining sector in Zimbabwe and effects of bank loans on entrepreneurship. — @ncubeleon
