Include Tokwe-Mukosi in tourism plan
EDITOR — The recent article carried in some newspapers titled, “Communities can develop, benefit from tourism products” is worth taking note of.
I want to commend Minister Walter Mzembi for coming up with The Zimbabwe National Tourism Master Plan in which Great Zimbabwe is one of the identified Tourism Development Zones.
However, I would like implore the Minister to consider including Tokwe-Mukosi as part of this zone.
Maybe rename this zone as The Great Zimbabwe and Tokwe Mukosi Tourism Development Zone.
I am sure this will expedite Tokwe Mukosi Dam’s potential development into a tourist hub of Masvingo.
I would also want to urge Minister Makhosini Hlongwane of Ministry of Sports and Recreation to consider partnering Minister Muzembi in this endeavour by rooting for the construction of a world class stadium and other sporting facilities at Tokwe Mukosi.
This will go a long way to promote sporting tourism and create the much needed employment in the country.
Tokwe Mukosi has huge investment opportunities and it is up to us as Zimbabweans to fully take this to our advantage and benefit the nation.
We have a very beautiful country and tourists’ satisfaction in Zimbabwe can be achieved if we invest on the things that have great potential Winston Munyaradzi Mafa, Masvingo.
