South Africa’s DJ Prince Kaybee says he will quit music this year if he fails to collaborate with international R&B star Rihanna.

The multi award winning Prince Kaybee was in Bulawayo on Saturday for a show at Eden Night Club. In the afternoon he was at popular chillspot Cubanna where he met fans and had dinner with Charlottes, women who won the search competition named after his recent hit featuring Lady Zamar, Charlotte.

The Better Days hit-maker has in the past expressed an interest in working with Rihanna on a house music track.

Prince Kaybee said after the release of his second album he would pursue Rihanna for collaboration.

“I’m going to drop my album in September and I’d say it’ll be my last album as I won’t make any other music before I feature Rihanna. I want to feature Rihanna on my next single after the album and if that doesn’t happen I will quit music,” said Prince Kaybee.

Signed under Universal Records South Africa, Prince Kaybee said they were in talks with Rihanna who is under Universal Records USA for his dream collaboration.

“My team is in contact with Rihanna. We’re under the same label. I’m under universal South Africa and she’s under Universal USA so we’re in talks with the management and we shall see what happens,” said Prince Kaybee.

He said he wanted to work with Rihanna because she always nails it with songs.

“Rihanna is dope. Rihanna has done so many things in her life and musically as well. I’ve never heard a bad Rihanna song,” said Prince Kaybee.

Turning to the local music scene, Prince Kaybee said he has heard a lot about Zimdancehall but was interested in those who produce house music which is his forte.

“I’d love to work with a DJ producer of house music from Zimbabwe. I know that dancehall is big, but I don’t compromise on house music. I don’t even listen to hip hop but I believe it’ll be interesting to work with someone who does house music from here,” said Prince Kaybee.

In the evening Prince Kaybee spotting a new ginger mohawk hairstyle after cutting off his trademark dread locks because they were annoying him, ushered summer in the city.

Fans thronged Eden Night club as they came to watch the Prince deliver the royal treatment on the decks.

There was a long queue of cars outside the venue as many people tried to find parking space for a night out.

It seemed that revellers cannot wait for the onset of the summer season as they danced their selves to a standstill to the house beats.

Prince Kaybee got on stage just after midnight and fans rushed to the decks and as the norm these days, used their cellphones to capture the moment.

Inside the club revellers were in unison as they danced along to the house tunes that Prince Kaybee was churning out. Outside it was the same vibe as those who couldn’t fit in the crowded dance floor created one for themselves.

After playing Better Days, a song that shot him to fame, Wajelwa and his most recent hit Charlotte, Prince Kaybee warmed up the stage for Heavy K when he played his fellow DJ’s song Drumboss. Heavy K who was on tour of Zimbabwe was expected to perform at Eden Night Club last night. After an hour it was over for Prince Kaybee who then joined the VIP section before he was whisked away to his hotel. Resident DJs Kananjo and Keezy took over with revellers dancing into the wee hours of yesterday.

Born Kabelo Motsamai the 27-year-old Prince Kaybee grew up in the small town of Senekal near Welkom in the Free State and is the youngest of 36 children.
