Jah Prayzah readies for

- Melissa Mpofu Showbiz Editor

JAH Prayzah says he is constantly singing selected songs off his forthcoming new album at various shows to avoid last year’s incident where he almost forgot lyrics to some of the Mdhara Vachauya songs.

The artiste, who is expected back in the country today from America, is now gearing up for the weekend where he has a series of shows lined up in Harare.

“Last year was hectic. We were constantly travelling so there was not much time to rehearse for the new album. But this time around, I’ve made sure that we constantly rehearse the songs by performing them at shows so that the band is in tune when we launch in October,” said Jah Prayzah.

As a result, those in the diaspora and some locals have been fortunate to sample songs from the new album – Kutonga Kwaro before its release on October 13. The album — a follow up to Mdhara Vachauya — will first be launched in Harare before being launched in Bulawayo on October 14. It will have 12 tracks and unfortunately will not contain singles, My Lilly ft Davido and Sendekera ft Mafikizolo. “My Lilly and Sendekera will not be included on the album as those songs were singles. However, the artistes I worked with on those tracks will be there at the album launch so people will have an opportunity to watch us perform together live,” he said. The new album, Jah Prayzah said, is a reflection of his musical journey thus far. Some tracks to look forward to are Ndin’ndamubata – a party song, Chengetedza, Emerina and Muchinjiko. “The album talks about where I am right now. Most of the songs are love and party songs.” But, just like Mdhara Vachauya, most of Jah Prayzah’s followers will be keen to listen to the title track – Kutonga Kwaro which is already laden with political connotations. Interestingly, Jah Prayzah said: “Just like Mdhara Vachauya, I’ll leave people to interpret
