WORLD Boxing Federation ( WBF) AllAfrica heavyweight contender Elvis Moyo arrived in Harare from his South African base yesterday bubbling with confidence about Friday’s title fight against Kenyan Bernard Adie.

Moyo will fight Adie in one of two title bouts in the Kalakoda Promotions and Kwese Sport boxing bill at Rainbow Towers in Harare on Friday night.

“I’m happy to be back at home. I’m here to win. The WBF All-Africa heavyweight title belongs to me and all along I’ve failed to get a challenger to defend the title I won in 2013. It’s been a frustrating four years without boxing and I’m excited and hope the fans will also be entertained,” said Moyo.

Moyo returned to the boxing ring last month by knocking out Akeem Tijani of Nigeria in the Namibian coastal town of Swakopmund after a four-year sabbatical.

Tijani threw in the towel in the second round after failing to withstand Moyo’s punches during a supporting bout.

The Bulawayo Bomber, as Moyo is known in the ring, was banned from boxing in South Africa in 2013 because of his involvement in mixed martial arts where he fights in the Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC), which stages fights every six weeks.

Moyo landed at the Harare International Airport accompanied by his South African trainer Soon Botes and officials from Kalakoda Promotions.

“I’m done with my preparations for the fight. I will keep fit by punching the bag and jogging to monitor my weight. I will also introduce my childhood mentor Philip ‘Striker’ Ndlovu and Clyde Musonda, who will be in my corner on Friday night together with Botes, so that they share duties,” said Moyo.

Friday’s fight will be Moyo’s first home professional bout in his career.

Since turning professional in September 2008 in South Africa when he lost through a technical knockout to Ilunga Makaba, Moyo now has five wins from 12 boxing bouts.
