New curriculum commendable

-

EDITOR — Zimbabwe is well known high literacy rate compared to most countries.

Despite this good record, a lot of people are sitting idle at home and yet they have knowledge imparted to them through education.

The purpose of education is not to guarantee a job to the one who qualifies after studying but to equip one with life skills that help them deal with life challenges.

A lot of graduates are missing that point and are waiting for the day a job comes to their doorstep.

This is not practical and people need to strategically work with what’s there.

The introduction of the new curriculum in education is a step by government in trying to enlighten students to be innovative and survivors in the prevailing conditions. for its African

There are a lot of people who are living well because of entrepreneurship.

Anything can be turned into money; it just takes innovation and boldness and these qualities are acquired through education.

Once students master that, the problem unemployment will be reduced.

Other problems such as child abuse, armed robbery and murder that are surging are because of youths’ idleness. These will also be addressed once the younger population learns to be productive in this environment.

If the rate of entrepreneurship increases in the country, productivity will also increases. This means that Zimbabwe will not need to import a lot of goods from other countries but will manufacture and export more. RESPONSE to “Obey traffic rules, police warn motorists”: Motorists have to comply with road rules to stop accidents from happening. This year many accidents have been caused by human error, therefore motorists have to drive cautiously. — Chiedza Moyo

GOVERNMENT should also reduce the number of roadblocks on the roads because in as much as we tell motorists to obey road rules, road blocks are a headache to them because they have to drop money at every roadblock. Such instances lead to motorists to speed as they try to run away from traffic police. — A Herera

RESPONSE to “More farmers to grow tobacco”: The golden leaf, being the highest foreign currency earner, has attracted many people to venture into tobacco farming. Farmers who are registering for the next farming season should work hard to make sure that they are well prepared because we wouldn’t want cases where they run out of ideas on how to tackle challenges. — Chamunorwa

RESPONSE to “New mine to open in Beitbridge”: This is an opportunity for those unemployed individuals in Beitbridge to seek employment once the mine becomes functional. — Martha Zuze.
