Worthy of the calling

-

2 Thessalonians 1 vs 11

“Therefore we also pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of His goodness and the work of faith with power.”

We are sometimes confronted with situations that leave us doubting whether we have the credentials to do the work that the Lord has asked of us.

We look at our past and where we have come from and quickly conclude that we are not worthy. Selfdoubt begins to cloud our judgment and we start to believe that we cannot possibly scale the mountains that are before us.

When Saul was anointed king, his first reaction was to say that he was from the tribe of Benjamin, a small tribe, and therefore was not worthy of the honor that was being bestowed upon him. He felt that based on the size of his tribe and its insignificance, he could not possibly have what it takes to lead such a great nation.

Many of us are in that boat, where we feel that our past must define our future and that we are intrinsically tied to the past. Yet God decides who He bestows favour on, who He deems worthy and who can be an instrument of His work. Doubt may arise, it is normal and natural, but no man can stand in the way of what God has chosen.

Do you feel you have a calling and a purpose but you think your background does not warrant the favour or the honour? Think again. You are a child of the living God, a child from a royal lineage. You were born to do this.

May the Lord grant you the confidence to know that He intended for you to be here today and that through Him, you will more than succeed. May He grant you the grace to take up your role and to do it well.

Be blessed
