Skyz Metro rebrands Horizon bar

Club Connect The J&B Summer party is on tonight with DJs Kead Wikead, Crazy Black and TBass. Tomorrow it’s SQ Fly Saturday with DJs Magesti and Tumza supported by resident DJs. Club 263 Forgotten Zimdanceha­ll star Shinsoman will perform for fans at the joint tomorrow supported by Wyper Real. DJs St Willz and FFF Molfy will be on the decks and hosted by Obama. Eden Night Club SKYZ Metro FM, Bulawayo’s commercial radio station has been roped in to help in the rebranding of the new look Horizon Bar and Restaurant.

The popular nightspot that is situated on the mezzanine floor (between ground and first floor) of Pioneer House and was opened on December 17, 2010, will shut its doors this week to allow new management to takeover.

The CEO of Fairtalk communicat­ions, the parent company of Skyz Metro FM, Qhubani Moyo said they had been approached by the proprietor­s of Horizon to help them rebrand. “One of the owners Bruno actually works for Skyz Metro and they’ve engaged the radio station to rebrand and reposition as a brand of choice in Bulawayo. Their message to us is that every entertainm­ent institutio­n has a season and Horizon’s has come to an end,” said Moyo.

Tonight its Pink Friday (All Black & Gold) incorporat­ing the nightspot’s owner Phathisani Nkomo’s birthday party. On the decks will be DJs Liz and Nospa with Tribal house trip Djembe Monks adding their flavour.

Boss Chicks will tomorrow be the theme where it is reported three monied women will grace the club and throw money into the crowd.

Matopo Sailing Club Tomorrow there will be a barbeque under the Matopo Sun with DJ Prince Eskhosini.

New Magumeni DJ Mzoe will hold his “Pre Birthday Party” tomorrow and will be backed by Skillz and Walker.

Umqombothi Sports Bar Tonight Khaya Performing Arts Group will entertain revellers. DJ CP will headline the night to entertain patrons tomorrow. Super Sundays will feature Ziyawa Dance group. All throughout the weekend, DJs Sweeto, Stone, Sheriff, Kull Jeff and Phibz will be on the decks.

“Now they want to capitalise on the audience of the radio station to repackage and rebrand their institutio­n and launch it under a new brand.”

He said he heard that people were saying they were taking over Horizon which was not true.

“Skyz is not in the business of restaurant­s and bars but is in the business of media and communicat­ions. We’re a platform for advertisin­g,” said Moyo.

He said with the rebranding they were hoping to have a venue for their live shows as the radio station is on the 9th Floor of the same building.

Horizon has in the past played host to memorable shows with high profile South African artistes such as DJs Black Coffee, Tira, Oskido, Fresh, Kent, hip hop group Tear Gas, house duo Liquid Deep and Naak Musiq DJ Zinhle’s All White party was now a permanent feature at the nightspot every year.

Private Lounge “Freaky Fridays” will see the nightspots enchanting dancers from Harare and Bulawayo showcasing their best on the pole with DJs Galaz and Delroy on the decks. “Seductive Saturdays” are on tomorrow.

Extreme Funky Fridays are on tonight with DJs Phibbz, Stones, Sweeto, Sherriff and KB-Soul. Tomorrow the resident DJs host the Clubbers Delight.

The Lounge It’s the “DJs Hangout” featuring Lasky, Las, Spax, Marcus Andro, Brendon Dat Guy and Jaiza. Tomorrow it’s the “House Invasion” with DJ DeBongs Deeper and resident DJs on rotation. On Sunday DJs Brendon that Guy and Jaiza host the Stokvel Night Afro Music party.

Nketa 8 Sports Bar Tonight it’s the “Feel the heat ladies party” featuring DJ Fishtoz. Tomorrow it’s “Total Blackout” featuring Nketa 8 DJs. On Sunday DJ Nkandura hosts the Slow Jams Chillout.
