President a true education icon

EDITOR — President Mugabe is showing his great passion for education by assisting those who cannot afford to proceed to university.

There are many who are disadvantaged financially but are hard working in school. These deserve to be given an opportunity to continue with their education because they have great potential to come up with innovations that can change Zimbabwe once given a platform.

We all know that knowledge is power and it can only be acquired in the rightful sense through education. Our President is the ideal icon in education because he has achieved a lot in that field.

He has deep knowledge in different fields and above all he is the Chancellor of all State universities in the country. It is therefore a blessing to be getting advice from such a great person because whatever he says is motivated by his experiences.

Being given an opportunity to study abroad is not to be taken for granted.

There are many who are looking for this exposure but are failing to get it. A student is able to observe and analyse certain implementations being made in countries they are doing their studies in and be able to apply these in their home countries thereby bringing about development.

Some individual cannot realise their potential due to poverty but when something good like this happens, they gain confidence and hope again. It is the role of the students benefiting not to let their families and the nation at large down. Tariro Chiweshe
