- Innocent Kurira Sports Reporter

FORMER Bantu Rovers midfielder Marvelous Nakamba has been named September Player of the Month for his Belgium top flight side Club Brugge.

The Belgian club announced the news on their official website.

Nakamba joined Club Brugge in June from Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem. The defensive midfielder has commanded a first team jersey from the start of the season and has been vital for his side’s fine run in the league.

After nine games Club Brugge top the table with 24 points winning eight of their games and losing just one.

Nakamba has also charmed the Brugge supporters who have fallen in love with his ability to dictate play in the middle of the park winning tackles and tough duels.

He signed for Brugge at a time when they were seeking a replacement for legend Timmy Simmons and the Zimbabwean has not disappointed proving to be an able replacement.

At 23 the Warriors’ midfielder is destined for even greater exploits on the international football scene. Before joining Club Brugge, there was a stampede for his signature in Europe. Nakamba was linked with a host of top European sides including Fernebache, Anderlecht and English premiership side Everton.

His blossoming career in Europe began with club AS Nancy in 2012 before he joined Vitesse two years later. — @innocentskizoe
