Intercessory Prayer

-

Be blessed James 5 vs 16

“CONFESS your trespasses to one another and pray for one another that you may be healed. The effective fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”

The other day someone I know told me about a difficult set of circumstances that had befallen them, soon after comprehending the problem at hand and the choices that had to be made, I was quick to tell them that they should pray about it.

Soon after I said that, the person caught me unawares when they immediately said, “No you should pray for me, actually let’s pray right now.” People will always say pray about it, but very few actually get down to the nuts and bolts of the issues at hand, and take it upon themselves to single-handedly offer intercessory prayers of deliverance.

The easiest thing to do is to receive but it’s really hard to give. Yet we are called to bear the cross of affliction for our brothers and sisters. If you recall, as Jesus laboured with the cross to Golgotha, Simon of Cyrene came out to help him carry the cross and the burdens of our sins.

Likewise we are called to carry the burdens of our friends and loved ones through the simple but powerful act of praying on their behalf. Help lessen the burden for someone today by praying for them and their needs. Your prayer will be heard and God will surely do something.
