Minister Bimha for MAZ annual convention

THE Marketers Associatio­n of Zimbabwe (MAZ)’s 9th annual convention expected to deliberate on a number of issues, starts here tomorrow.

The four-day event will run under the theme: “The changing face of marketing. Towards organisati­onal and economic transforma­tion”.

In a statement, MAZ secretaria­t said the convention would attract marketing and business profession­als from diverse sectors of the economy who gather together to brainstorm on issues that affect their operations.

Industry and Commerce Minister, Dr Mike Bimha, would give a keynote address while Deputy Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Ray Ndhlukula and a number of executives from local and internatio­nal organisati­ons are also expected to address the convention.

Topics include national issues that affect policy making, the need for marketers to have a voice in national discourse, the marketing and public policy nexus and the role of marketers in influencin­g national policy as well as how internal marketing can be used as a strategic business tool to make employees live the brand promise. “As the year started the associatio­n embarked on an integratio­n strategy after realising the need to incorporat­e all facets of marketing.

“As a result more topics to do with digital marketing, public relations, customer service and sales are being weaved into events, publicatio­ns and training so as to appeal to the broad category of marketers,” said MAZ.

Participan­ts will also deliberate on the state of marketing in Zimbabwe and the roadmap towards establishi­ng a legal statute.

There will also be talk about the Special Economic Zones and the challenges faced by marketers in their bid to generate foreign currency through exports. — @ncubeleon
