Master your craft

-

Proverbs 22 vs 29 “Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before unknown men.”

One of the reasons why people go to school is so that they can be taught skills that will enable them to be diligent in the various fields of vocation they will have chosen. Imagine visiting an emergency room with the hope of getting relief, only to be told that the medics are clueless about what they should be doing.

We go to people seeking assistance because we believe or are guided by the fact that these people have mastered their art to the point where they can impart and assist others. Invariably we are all called through faith, to master our various circumstances and be able to firmly say, “I have been able to conquer as a result of the grace that the LORD has provided.”

A friend of mine told me a story of a person who had been mining for years without success, in frustration they gave up yet they were only five centimetres away from finally discovering a very large seam of gold. Though we should not labour in vain we must learn to master our circumstances, to adapt, and to learn new things that make us versatile and able to sustain ourselves. Often we give up without having made the adjustments that we need for success.

One of the greatest lessons that come from knowing the LORD is the ability to be patient, to wait on Him and His timing. Whilst we are doing what we are called to do we should play our part by being diligent, mastering our craft and becoming good at the things we have been given the opportunity to do.

We should never be jacks-of-all-trades and masters of nothing. The bible clearly says that Jesus was a carpenter; a man with a vocation and a specific skill set that he had spent time mastering and learning. Likewise we are called to do the same, to be good at certain things and through that, master our circumstances and subdue the things that trouble or distract us.

He would like to help you today, pray that He gives you the patience to wait, the diligence to learn, and the faith to know that He can make all things possible for those that believe and belong to Him. Be good at what you do.

Be blessed
