Triumph from tragedy

-

Be blessed 1 Peter 1 vs 6-7

“In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honour, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”

During a conversation I was asked whether when I look back at the life of Job as chronicled by the bible, I can truly say that Job was blessed in the second half of his life after everything he had lost. Can one say that the restoration of the family he lost and all his material possessions constitute a gain on his part?

I suppose when you look at the sequence of events of the tragedy that became his life, you can clearly see the loss. That’s because when life drives you to a point of loss or hurt it is sometimes difficult to see the good that occurs at the end of the rainbow.

We often equate progress with the material and financial recovery that we make yet we forget that the greatest good that comes out of any form of difficulty is the growth of our personality and the overall dependence on GOD. Many an individual have become better people who are more focused and who see the glory, majesty and guidance of GOD in their lives even when confronted by trauma and trials.

So the question remains; did any good come out of the renewal of Job’s life? The answer is yes. From difficulty, our senses are sharpened to the knowledge of GOD and what can be more enlightening and fulfilling than seeing the glory and presence of GOD as manifested by the individual victory one has over circumstances?

May the LORD speak to you wherever you may be today and may your character be brought to His knowledge.
