You can’t trade with God

-

Be blessed Acts 17 vs 24 - 25 (NIV)

“The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. And He is not served by human hands, as if He needed anything. Rather, He Himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else.”

A COLLEAGUE of mine reminded me of something we all seem to do on a regular basis; we tend to bargain with the LORD as if we were on the street negotiating for the price to be reduced. Many will say; “LORD if you do this, then I will do that.” I know I have done it several times myself when I find myself in a corner and the only way out of my mess is to plead with the LORD and promise future obedience.

The reality though, is that it should never get to that. Our behaviour should be governed by the fact that we are all called to be good, obedient, and to do the right thing. GOD’s blessings are not dependent on us creating conditions for why we should do the things that we are meant to do.

So today, teach yourself to do what is right because that’s what you are supposed to do. Don’t hold out on the LORD as if His life depends on you doing right, rather do the right things because it’s demanded of you and likewise He will do right by you.

He will continue to bless you and shine His light on you because He calls us all to a place where we should reflect and be guided by the fact that He is a loving father who wants the best for us. When He says no to our requests, it’s because He knows what’s best. Pray because it’s the right thing to do, not because your life depends on it.
