Rethink on Govt leave conditions

-

EDITOR — Our new Government led by President Emmerson Mnangagwa should seriously introspect on the Manpower Development Leave conditions (MPDL).

Civil servants have had to face the brunt of going on MPDL without salaries yet the prime objective is to improve the organisational goal.

Salaries have been stagnant for too long and yet for one to improve themselves there should not have their meagre salaries deducted.

Why are they having their salaries deducted when one pays to better, not only themselves, but also for the good of the country?

After completing the course one is bonded. Can the new dispensation look into this issue with a wide spectrum of reality otherwise workers will remain a shade behind in the ever-changing trends in employment circles.

One hopes that something will be done as a matter of urgency. Nap, Gwanda I MET an elderly couple aged 85 and 90 helping each other out of Bulawayo registry offices saying that an officer had asked them to write an affidavit to witness for a son who wanted an ID! Worryingly the two regardless of their advanced ages they were wanted to be physically present? Surely Mr Mudede, l think on humanitarian basis there could be some exceptions. Why are we so rigid to such an extent? By punishing this elderly couple what do you intend to achieve. Let’s be reasonable in serving our people. — Wilson, Bulawayo

PARENTS back in Zimbabwe should support their children whilst they are studying abroad. It does not mean that when you go to a foreign land you will be treated like queens and kings. The journey sometimes is hard. Banks should remove the limits which they have placed on visa cards to make life easy for students. For example, with Ecocash life was easy as our parents would send money at any time. Now they are forced to look for hard cash so as to send to their children. It’s tough. — Esy.
