“Sing praises to the LORD, who dwells in Zion! Declare His deeds among the people.”

People love the game of soccer, some have even termed it “the beautiful game”. It generates so much emotion and euphoria; people will cry, laugh and celebrate over a game. It has grown beyond the proportions of a religion; people worship their favourite players and teams.

A few days ago I listened to a live radio commentary of a match in which our national team was playing. The commentators expressed every moment that they saw on the pitch so animatedly. The excitement that they would exhibit soon after a goal was nothing short of phenomenal.

My ears literally popped from the sounds they made to express their joy. I changed the channel, but it was the same on the other stations, the level of hysteria was unbelievable. The fans were equally overjoyed by the exploits of their team, many a reveller will live to talk about that match over and over again.

It’s very interesting how we clearly display our feelings for the things we love, one doesn’t need to be told, the feelings are clear for all to see. But have you ever stopped to ask yourself: with all that our Father in heaven has given you, how do you express this love and this happiness? Are you loud and hysterical about it? Can everyone around you feel your joy and your passion? Will you pop the next person’s ears just to share how wonderful God is?
