Giving back to God

-

Proverbs 3 vs 9 - 10

“Honour the LORD with your possessions, and with the first fruits of all your increase; So your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine.”

A dear friend of mine invited me to a thanksgiving service at his church. Once a year, they set aside a special day to give thanks for all they would have been given by God. They offer their gratitude in the form of a tithe or offering to the church, that is to be used to further His work.

Others bring a portion of their harvest, in differing sizes, each according to how they have been given. Everyone is called to this special service to return a small portion of their blessings. What was interesting, however, was that ordinarily the church is full to the brim, but on this particular day of the year, the majority of the members stayed away.

GOD does so much for all of us, but when we are called to give of what He has given us, it can sometimes be very difficult to align our desires with the need to be obedient and give back to our giver. Are you shying away from His desire for you to bless His work and give to others? Giving may just be the one thing that’s holding back the floodgates of His blessings for your life.

Give back to the Maker, the giver of all things.

Be blessed
