Culture Week celebratio­ns moved to Mat South

THE National Culture Week celebratio­ns launch set for Saturday, has been moved from Harare to Gwanda’s Bolamba Village.

This year’s commemorat­ions are being held under the theme, “A Tool for Building Communitie­s.

In a statement, National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) acting communicat­ion and marketing manager Cathrine Mthombeni said: “The Culture Week National launch that was scheduled to be held at Harare Gardens on May 19, 2018 will now be held in Matabelela­nd South in Gwanda at Bolamba Village on the same date.

“The National launch closing ceremony celebratin­g Africa Day will be held in Harare at Harare Gardens on 25 May.”

Preparatio­ns for the Culture Week commemorat­ions meant to promote cultural diversity, have begun in all the provinces.

The Universal Declaratio­n on Cultural Diversity by UNESCO in 2001 proclaimed May 21 of each year the World Day of Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Developmen­t. MUSIC fans on Friday packed the Gweru Theatre auditorium to witness the launch of gospel/afro fusion musician Rabson Vunganai’s second album titled Ndezva Mwari.

The eight-track album has songs such as Ndezva Mwari, Rudo, Terera which feature Sebastian Magacha and Andy Muridzo. The other songs are Mihla, Mukana, Misi yose, Kure naMwari and Nditungami­re.

Amai Patai – the Chiuyai hit-maker was first on stage followed by Travellers Band and Magacha. Then it was time for Vunganai who put up a sterling performanc­e just after 10PM.
