TALENTED artiste Andy Muridzo will tonight serenade members of the Zimbabwe National Army at the 2018 Mine Risk Awareness music gala taking place at Malipati in Chiredzi.

Muridzo, who wowed Bulawayo audiences last weekend, will be supported by 5 Infantry Brigade, Mbada Sounds, Mechanised Brigade’s Crocodile Sounds, 4 Infantry Brigade’s 4 Lions Band and a number of local music groups that include the Shangani Traditional dancers.

In a statement, ZNA director of public relations Lieutenant Colonel Alphios Makotore said the music gala, which has been moved from Dumisa to Malipati due to the centrality of the latter, is being held to raise awareness about the dangers of landmines.

“The gala, which is in its third year running, is organised by the ZNA to conscientise and educate locals on the dangers of landmines. The event will also bring the much needed entertainment to both locals and the ZNA deminers deployed in the area,” said Lt Col Makotore.

He said landmines have continued to claim lives and restrict the movement of people and animals as well as render many areas unsuitable for agriculture and grazing.

Last year, the event was successfully held at Dumisa Primary School, with more than five musical bands taking part. Madzibaba Nicholas Zakaria was the main act. – @walterbmswazie2

“At first it was hard‚ I mean all of sudden there were a lot of people interested in my work. People who loved me and some who didn’t. Then there was the media, but Tira trained me well.

“I’m here to stay. As a brand‚ I know who I am and I know what to share and what not to share.”

The iScathulo hitmaker said she had known Tira for a long time and even though she only became synonymous with gqom hit songs and energetic dance moves in 2017‚ she has been working hard to build up for years. – SundayWorld
