A GWANDA woman has approached the court seeking a protection order against her ex-husband who is allegedly threatening to commit suicide or kill their four-year-old child if she does not get back with him.

Ms Sinikiwe Moyo said her ex-husband Witness Mpofu, who is a gold panner in West Nicholson, was now married to another woman but comes to her home to threaten her in the presence of their child.

“Mpofu is my ex-husband and he is now married to another woman but he is constantly forcing me to get back with him. He comes to my home and threatens to commit suicide. He has also threatened to kill our fouryear-old child unless we reconcile.

“I appeal to this court to grant me an order that will stop him from making these threats as he is disturbing my peace. I now live in fear for my life and that of my child’s as I don’t know what to expect from him. I’m not interested in getting back with him and I want him to leave me alone,” she said.

Ms Moyo said the threats were affecting her child psychologically.

In response Mpofu refused to have the protection order granted saying he was still in love with his ex-wife and he wanted them to sort out their issues and revive their relationship.

Gwanda magistrate Mr Obedience Matare granted the protection order against Mpofu. He ordered him to desist from visiting Ms Moyo and making the threats.—@DubeMatutu
