Minister demands accountability

-

THE Minister of State for Matabeleland South Provincial Affairs, Cde Abednico Ncube, has demanded that Government departments within his province provide monthly reports to his office to ensure development and promote accountability.

Addressing stakeholders at a Provincial Development Committee (PDC) meeting in Gwanda yesterday, Cde Ncube said all resources that departments were allocated are expected to be channelled towards official business.

He said one of the main areas that he would tackle during his term of office was corruption within the province.

Cde Ncube said he would be monitoring and conducting follow ups on departments and their work.

“May I encourage all heads of Government departments, parastatals and the private sector to be fully committed in improving the lives of their citizenry and towards the development of our nation. I’m proud of the work most departments here are doing but unfortunately there is very little to no reporting. May I stress that departmental reports should be sent to my office every month as they are crucial in showing the progress and work being done by each department. This province will not tolerate corruption, all we expect from you is hard work,” he said.

Cde Ncube said he was committed to work with stakeholders involved in the provision of social services to ensure that standards of living for people in the province improved. He urged stakeholders to ensure that the province promotes various projects such as livestock production, cropping, horticulture, craft, wildlife and mining. The Minister said gold mining and livestock were major income earners in the province and they had to be fully utilised.

Cde Ncube said he would work with relevant stakeholders to ensure that the province retains its status of being the best in beef production and revival of beef production industries. — @DubeMatutu
