Byo businessman faces ‘abuse’ of firearm charge

BULAWAYO businessman, Davis Muhambi, yesterday appeared in court for allegedly pointing a firearm at National Blood Services of Zimbabwe Bulawayo spokesperson, Mr Sifundo Ngwenya, with whom he almost had a collision at an intersection in Mzilikazi suburb.

Muhambi (37) of Burnside suburb and a United Milling company director nearly rammed into Mr Sifundo Ngwenya’s car that was at an intersection in Mzilikazi suburb.

He appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Mr Lungile Ncube facing a charge of pointing a firearm and was remanded out of custody to March 21 for trial.

The prosecutor Mr Kenneth Shava said on January 20 at about 12PM, Ngwenya was driving a white Nissan Double cab along Luveve Road.

“While Mr Ngwenya was driving through Nguboyenja robot intersection near Mzilikazi service station, Muhambi, who was driving a Mercedes Benz, came speeding along Ngcebetsha Road from the direction of Mzilikazi and turned into Luveve Road. The two cars nearly had a collision.

“The two exchanged insults and they continued to do so as they drove side by side,” said Mr Shava.

Muhambi produced a pistol and pointed it at Mr Ngwenya. He later drove off leaving Mr Ngwenya behind, the court heard.

The matter was reported to the police leading to Muhambi’s arrest.
