Sharpen your skills

-

Ecclesiastes 10 vs 10 “If the axe is dull and its edge unsharpened, more strength is needed but skill will bring success.”

I had a conversation with a very wise person who spoke about sharpening your skills and being prepared for that defining moment when God calls on you. So many of us have skills and talents that the Lord placed in us, we have the ability to achieve what seems impossible but we tend to just wait on God to do everything for us.

A skill will not be of much benefit to you if you just sit on it. We live in an age where everything develops and changes at the speed of lightning and there is very steep competition. What would have been a valuable skill today could very well be useless tomorrow with the inventions and updates in trends and technology. You may be skilled and qualified, but are you up to date? Are your skills relevant currently or are you just stumbling along with minimal success? True talent is worth developing to the point of mastery. The onus is on you, God plants the seed in you but it’s up to you to water it, nurture it, grow it, and ensure that it’s at its prime at any given time. We all have it in us to achieve great things, slay the giants in our way, and live the life of greatness and abundance that God wills for us. It’s up to you to constantly develop your God-given gifts, grow, learn new things and keep improving.

God gave David the skill but He did not sling the stone, it was David who developed and refined the skill that prepared him for that moment when He slayed the giant. Sharpen your skills, learn from those around you and above you, be ready to take over from them if need be. Be prepared for the moment God calls you and offers you that golden opportunity. Don’t miss the opportunity to succeed.
