The power of intercessory prayer

-

1 Samuel 7 vs 9 “He cried out to the Lord on Israel’s behalf, and the Lord answered Him”

Never underestimate the power of intercessory prayer. The prayers we make on behalf of others can change everything. God listens to prayers and He moves in response to prayers that are in agreement with His will. The word of God is full of narratives describing the power of intercessory prayer in different situations where it brought healing, conquered death, and turned tragedies into victory in so many instances.

A friend of mine was going through a rough time and as I searched in the Bible for scriptures to help them, I read about how Samuel interceded for God’s people as they faced trouble. The Israelites asked Samuel to continue praying for them as they were facing the threat of an attack by the Philistines and the Lord answered by throwing their enemy into confusion using thunder, and they were victorious even though the Philistine army was mightier than them. This scripture encouraged and strengthened my faith as I prayed for my friend, and sure enough their situation turned around.

When we cry out to the Lord on behalf of our loved ones, doubt and fear sometimes make us think the Lord will not hear us, but He does. We may not know how He will answer, but He hears our pleas and He responds to our petitions. Ours is to remain resolute in our faith and trust in His faithfulness. Pray for your loved ones.
