Focus on the Upward Call
Psalm 37 vs 7 “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.”
A very distraught friend reached out to me complaining how an experience they had just had evidently proved to them that it does not pay to be nice. They kept insisting that it would appear it’s only the wicked that prosper and survive in this world. Sometimes rightfully so, life appears to favour those that lean on their own understanding, but the truth is the ability to do the right thing and follow the Lord is priceless.
We are all called to a higher calling of consciousness and although His ways are steep and difficult and do not always produce the instant results we all yearn for, nothing brings a greater sense of inward peace than following Him wholeheartedly. The rewards of the world may be the gratification we seek today, but no greater accolade can there be than the words, “Well done my good and faithful servant, you kept the faith and ran a good race.”
No matter how hard things may be, let us wait on Him. His solutions and outcomes have a greater sense of meaning and purpose. His cross today may appear painful but the hope of a greater tomorrow should never be taken from us. Heaven is our ultimate home, this world is not our home and it’s not our final destination.
