LOGA PLOTS ALGERIA BATTLE

- Blessing Malinganiza

WARRIORS coach Zdravko Logarusic says their friendly game against Malawi helped them on what they need to work on as they prepare for the back-to-back AFCON qualifiers against Algeria.

Zimbabwe will host the Desert Foxes at the National Sports Stadium on November 16, according to a Confederation of African Football schedule released last week. “Every game is important and in every game you have to learn something. This game showed us a few players as we expected.

“We had the opportunity to see some players and we also tried to implement some ideas of what we are expecting to do in the future.

“We had some good moments and some bad and we also have some excuses, but it’s not necessary to look for excuses,” he said.

Loga says he lacked enough time with the boys, but believes they had a solid game regardless.

“We only had one training. Malawi brought their top team and also they started their preparation on the 21st last month.

“Most of the players, which were from Zambia, came by road and went straight to the hotel. Alec Mudimu arrived the previous night at 10pm and had to play the next day.

“Those boys from Europe had only half training with me and the locals were not even training and I think at the end of it all under the circumstances we had a solid game.

“We saw some things and we have some ideas already. We couldn’t do so many things with the little time we have because it’s a process. Everything is a process, but we will try to organize ourselves much better. We can improve.”

Loga has promised to make football fans smile and believe they have time to improve their play.

“We need to prepare ourselves and represent Zimbabwe properly in the games against Algeria.

“But I think we will improve game by game. We will be better because we have to play against Botswana and Zambia.

“We will try to make Zimbabwe football lovers smile,” he said.
