‘Engage in social media marketing’
CANADA-BASED life coach and business consultant, Nyasha “Slightly Above” Chimbari has urged African communities to make use of the Internet to make money.
The 27-year-old marketing expert has worked with various organisations in and out of Zimbabwe, including African Union Sixth Region-Diaspora African Community initiative by the African Union (AU6RC), an organisation that seeks to empower and mediate between the West and its African Descent Inhabitants of the Diaspora.
She has also worked with different communities as well, all with the aim of seeking out economic and social ways to empower and educate others.
“I had my first business plan at 10, which was about a shopping mall where street kids could earn money through selling their artefacts in order to maintain their personal dignity.
“The concern grew even more with the down cast and struggling members of our community, it allowed me to see everyone as equal in value, but unequal in opportunity.
“That motivated me to then seek out businesses that enhance and empower others. My content has started the work already to empower the normal human being to surpass their goals by seeing things differently.”
Chimbari said she has always had passion for business.
“I have always had a passion for business, but more so to help small and medium scale businesses and more recently, to help them enter the digital space.
“Business is going digital and whether it is to help people interact effectively and market their products better on WhatsApp or to create websites where necessary, engage in social media marketing.
“I believe that no-one should be left behind in the digitalisation of both our formal and informal sectors.
“I also consult for businesses as well and I own an agency called Slightly Above Media and Marketing where we help African companies, including family owned and run small businesses with their marketing,” she said. Added Chimbari:. “I have been collaborating with different organisations, especially in educating and empowering youths, women and children to be socially conscious, innovative and responsible people who look at their lives, their businesses and their legacy differently.
“The majority of my clients are in Africa by virtue of my passion to build a stronger African continent that can stand on its own and command respect from the world.”
The young business consultant, who is passionate about women empowerment, said she owes her success to God.
“I have also grown up in church, and as such I give all glory and take all directives from our Lord Jesus Christ. I have to give credit where credit is due.
“I am passionate about women and children and I see a majority of our work seeking to empower women and children”.
Chimbari is co-owner of Zimcelebrity media, and has made significant partnerships with media companies in order to help change the narrative around our beloved country.
“The work continues, both behind and in front of the camera, as I work, along with so many other patriotic Zimbabwean young entrepreneurs, to highlight areas of opportunities that people often take for granted because they don’t seem big enough to make a real difference, and to further still, put in the best effort to scale and succeed,” said Chimbari.
