ZIMNAT Life Insurance has stood up to its promise of ‘Making life better’ by donating a borehole to Murereka clinic in Makonde district

.

e Murereka clinic donation is part of Zimnat Group’s nationwide project in partnership with Health Maintenance Network Africa, a member of the Carenet Africa, together with the Ministry of Health and Child Care, as part of its Covid-19 response.

Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Mary Mliswa-Chikoka said she was delighted to welcome Zimnat to the best province in Zimbabwe, which is Mashonaland West, popularly known as ‘Mash Best’.

“I am pleased to join you today for the handover ceremony of Zimnat and Health Maintenance Network Africa and the Ministry of Health and Child Care Covid-19 response initiative; an initiative that will see each of our provinces getting a borehole for the benefit of their surrounding communities,” said Mliswa.

“A total of 10 boreholes are being handed over to the

Ministry of Health and Child Care by Zimnat and Health Maintenance Network Africa, as their support towards the fight against the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Today, we are witnessing the project come to life, through commissioning of the Murereka clinic borehole, which will greatly influence the community here in Mash West province,”

She said one of the primary goals of the nationwide project is to slow down the spread of Covid-19, which has hit the world.

“And as a country, we have not been spared. And right now, we all need to pitch in and prevent cases, both within ourselves and in our communities. The Government has put in measures to combat Covid-19, including urgently providing continuous and affordable access to safe water to people across the country.”

Zimnat Managing Director Wakemore Chimweta said the borehole initiative was part of their Covid19 response.

“We as Zimnat Group in partnership with Health Maintenance Network Africa and the Ministry of Health and Child Care, have come together as part of the Covid-19 response.

“Water stands between us and life, us and sustenance, us and our children. Having wellness and health and being able to attend school and grow, and not suffer any of the numerous complications that can come in the absence of water,” said Chimweta.

He said the project entailed drilling of boreholes across the 10 provinces.

“Zimnat has a very simple purpose, our mission is: ‘Making life better’. So every day when we wake up and get together, doing our work, we are always asking ourselves; Are we making life better?” he said.

Chimweta said he felt like they were answering that mission in the affirmative and making life better, because that is what Zimnat is.

Sister in charge of Murereka clinic, Patson Samkange, said that life at the clinic was very difficult without water.
