LOPEZ UPSETS LOMACHENKO

IBF lightweigh­t champion Teofimo Lopez upset the odds when he beat WBA, WBO, and WBC Franchise champion Vasily Lomachenko on a 12-round unanimous points decision in ”The Bubble” at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

The scores were 117-111, 116-112 and a way out 119109. The smaller Lomachenko was unable to dictate the fight with his elusive style, as he has done in previous fights, and was kept on the back foot through most of the fight.

UNDERCARD

Junior welterweig­ht Arnold Barboza (25-0; 10), who is rated at No 7 by both the WBC and WBO, won on a closely fought ten-round unanimous points decision over WBO No 6 Alex Saucedo (302; 19).

Saucedo scored a knockdown in round seven as the judges scored it 96-93 and 97-92 twice.

In a super middleweig­ht bout, Edgar Berlanga (15-0; 15), who is rated at No 9 by the WBO and at No 11 by the WBA, won on a first-round technical knockout over Lanell Bellows (20-6-3; 13).

The time was 1:59.

Super lightweigh­t Josue Vargas (18-1; 9) won on a ten-round unanimous points decision against Kendo Castaneda (17-3; 8). Vargas scored a knockdown in the first round and won with scores of 10089, 98-90 and 98-91.

Featherwei­ght Jose Enrique Durantes Vivas (201; 11) smashed John Vincent Moralde (23-4; 13) to defeat at 1 minute 16 seconds into the first round.

In a welterweig­ht contest, Quinton Randall (7-0; 2) beat Jan Carlos Rivera (4-1; 4). The scores were 59-55 and 58-56 twice.

In another welterweig­ht fight, Jahi Tucker (2-0; 1) outpointed Charles Garner (1-1; 1) over four rounds. — SuperSport.
