GASA BACK ON STAGE :
EXTRA VALEMBE boss Romeo Gasa held his first public show since the lockdown was effected at East Point in Harare.
Gasa, who is fondly known as Gasa-Gasa changed the theme of the show on stage from “The return of Romeo Gasa” to “Let’s remember all Covid19 victims and casualties.”
“Thank God for reuniting us as Romeo Gasa and the Extra Valembe team after this Covid-19 pandemic lockdown.
“On behalf of our band, fanatics and artistes, I say, let’s have a minute of silence in mourning, respecting and saluting the good time God allowed us to be with the late Mr Roja; Bocksburg Hotel owner and promoter, who passed on during this coronavirus era, Mukoma Jackson Monya raive netunhu twaro.
“I think you remember him gracing almost all our shows. He succumbed to injuries from a road accident during this corona virus era.”
Gasa also took time to pay tribute to other people who died during the lockdown.
“Mudhara Mukuze died also during the lockdown, if he was alive, I know he would have been the first to arrive here for our show tonight. He used to stand at that counter corner. He would always splash huge amounts of foreign currency.
“Our 1990 great promoter, Philip Mugadza, who promoted almost all DRC bands and artistes like Lucky Dube, whilst competing with mogul Dr Philip Chiyangwa then also died during this Covid-19 era.
“May their souls rest in eternal peace as we utilise the best we learnt from them.
“May God remember them for the good they did during their time with us and may God forgive them for what they might have done wrong knowingly or not knowingly.
“Lastly, let’s all do what the WHO and local health authorities are asking us to do in curbing the spread of this bad virus called Covid19. Look at me, I have my mask and sanitiser with me here.
“Let’s be slaves to these rules for our lives. Let’s adopt these Covid-19 health cultures for life as all of them are about hygiene,” said Gasa, to deafening rounds of applause.
