Gospel album overdue: Ti Gonzi

- Shingirirayi Mugodi

AWARD-WINNING hiphop artiste Tinashe “Ti Gonzi” Chigagura says he longs to release a gospel album, which he says is already overdue.

Speaking to H-Metro, Ti Gonzi said he has always planned to do a gospel album.

“It is very true and I cannot wait. I feel like God gave me so much talent, he saved me when had I literally lost it all and he is blessing me. It is only right to do this.

“I feel bad about not having done so before so I want to ‘cover zvipande’ to my creator and just be me and inspire millions,” he said.

“I would prefer to be just by myself on the album.

“This is because other artistes do other albums (not gospel) and they will just be themselves,” he added.

Ti Gonzi said the album will contain a minimum of 10 songs and said he was driven to do a gospel album by the love of God.

“I cannot promise, all I can say is the songs will not be less than 10.

“God is the creator, He is love, I am nobody without Him and gospel music is flawless in every sense,” he told H-Metro.

Asked if he got inspired by the late Tuku who also released a gospel album he said:

“Oliver Mtukudzi inspired me in a lot of ways and he still does,

“However, this has nothing to do with him, my life inspired me to do this.

“The hardships I went through and still go through, He himself, the Almighty inspires me to do this,” Ti Gonzi told H-Metro.

Ti Gonzi is also yet to release his Best Mero Album Volume 2.

“I want the reach of the album to be much bigger and wider as compared to my past albums.

“So the release plan should be epic and that is what I have been working on.

“Remember, I have had problems with my past management so I am doing everything by myself, but trust me we are on,” he said.
