Kamhuka in team-of-the-season
ZIMBABWEAN defender Victor Kamhuka has been named in the Myanmar National League team of the season after a stand-out campaign for Ayeyawady United.
The towering defender played a key role at United to help them finish third in a season that saw them winning a domestic cup and went for 15 games without tasting defeat.
Kamhuka, who was voted into the team of week on numerous occasions, was rated among the top performing defenders in the Asian country.
He did not only make the football association’s team of the season but also made it into the fans’ team of the season.
And speaking to H-Metro about the recognition, Kamhuka said it gives him the energy to aim higher next season.
“It is always good to be recognised. It is every footballer’s wish to be recognised especially when you think that you have done well as a player.
“I have been named in the football association’s team of the season and fans’ team of the season as well, and this means I have to aim higher in the forthcoming season. It’s unfortunate that we missed out on the championship having been on pole position for the better part of the season,” said Kamhuka.
Kamhuka, who was initially named in the Warriors squad that faced Malawi in a friendly last week, believes he has not yet reached his peak.
The former Dynamos and Black Leopards defender said his initial call to national duty is a testimony of the effort he has been putting in the Asian country.
He said he is grateful to Zdravko Logarusic’s technical team for the chance.
“I couldn’t make it for the Malawi friendly due to travelling restrictions, but I am grateful to have made it into the team that was scheduled to play Malawi. I grateful to coach Loga for the effort and chance.
“I will continue working hard because I feel I am yet to reach my full potential. My wish is to continue moving to top leagues in Europe,” said Kamhuka.
